Joey and I first met when my sister and his brother got married in Gatlinburg Tennessee. He was the best man and I was the matron of honor. (Yes we ended up being sisters married to brothers). Anyway, the night I arrived in Gatlinburg, I was pulling up to the gate to the cabins where everyone was staying, and my 8 year old niece yelled from the pool, "Uncle Buddy wants you to be his girlfriend". I just laughed and went on down to the cabin to unload the car. I didn't think anything more about what my niece had said because my sister and I had already had this conversation. You see, Joey swore we had met before then, but I didn't remember ever meeting him. He had asked my sister several times to "hook him up" but I repeatedly said no. I had been in a very toxic relationship for 5 years and wasn't looking to start up another relationship with someone who i had already been warned about. So my sister had convinced me to just hang out with him while we were in Gatlinburg since he had just split up with his girlfriend due to a very sick and twisted situation that I'll describe later. But thát was supposed to be the extent of the situation; just someone to hang out with so we both weren't "alone". We spent that entire weekend side by side. We went to the go cart track together with my then 8 year old daughter. My little girl refused to ride the go cart with him. She was against the idea of him and I being together from the beginning. She caved a little when we took her to the aquarium. She was tired of walking and couldn't see the live diver in the tank, so she allowed Joey to carry her on his shoulders. But as the weekend came to an end, and it was time to go home, we went our separate ways and left thát weekend behind us in Gatlinburg. Or so I thought.
